Discoverer Pathway

The Discoverer Curriculum provides learning experiences that are tailored to individual children’s needs. Activities build on their skills to scaffold next steps in their learning. Lessons are structured and include children’s interests and sensory needs so that they are motivated to learn.

Within the Discoverer Pathway we teach our pupils strategies to support their communication skills. They develop language skills to communicate what they need, to take part in social activities and to access opportunities in the community.

We support our pupils to live their lives with as much independence as possible, by working on children’s functional skills and using life-skill based opportunities whenever appropriate.

We aim for pupils to learn to regulate, with the support of an adult when needed. The strategies we teach support the children’s attention, their confidence and their sense of happiness.
