Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): Workshops for parents and carers
These two hour workshops offer support and information for parents and carers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The workshops will be run by Speech and Language Therapists and other professionals.
- Come along and meet other parents
- Find out strategies and ways to support your child
- Have the opportunity to ask questions
7th January 2019: Developing attention - this workshop wil I cover attention, impact on communication and strategies to develop attention skills
4th February 2019: Supporting friendships- this workshop focuses on how to support verbal children and young people have conversations, play with peers and develop understanding of other people's point of view
4th March 2019: Girls and ASD - this workshop will focus on how girls with ASD may present differently to boys and outline strategies
3rd April 2019: Sleep and ASD - this workshop will help you understand sleep difficulties and how to develop your child's sleep pattern and will I be run by a Paediatrician
2nd May 2019: Transition to secondary school - this workshop will provide ideas about how to support your child in their transition from primary to secondary school
28th June 2019: Early communication skills- this workshop will provide ideas and support parents of children and young people who may be non-verbal or have a few words
18th July 2019: ASD and Mental Health- this workshop will discuss ways for parents to support anxiety and low mood in children (under 12 years) with ASD

These sessions are drop in so there is no need to book a place. These sessions are for parents only as unfortunately we are unable to accommodate children.
