Latest news about the new Livity School Building
Latest news regarding the delay in moving to the new Livity School.
It is with regret that I am writing to inform you that our new school building is not ready for us to move into on the scheduled date of October 22nd. This means that school will continue on this site as normal until Friday 26th October when we break up for our half term holiday. The school will still have two days staff INSET Training on 5th and 6th November and therefore children will not be returning to school after the holiday until Wednesday 7th November. We will remain on our present site for the rest of the Autumn Term in the hope that the new building will be fit for purpose in the New Year. This means that we will transition to Adare Walk, Streatham in 2013.
I am really sorry and very disappointed to convey this news to you. The reasons for the delay are to do with engineering problems with the flat roof and various construction issues. Whilst Mulalleys, our main building team have conveyed their regret in not being able to deliver us the finished building at the end of October, they have ensured me of their continued commitment to building us an iconic first class school that will provide us with “state of the art” facilities.
Today I visited the site with Councillors Reed and Haywood in order to see the building in Streatham and whilst they too are disappointed that our move date has been postponed until early next year, they are equally excited at their first glimpse of our school. I hope that pictures of their visit will be in local newspapers next week so that you too will be able to see a “first look” and read about our new school. Hopefully these pictures will be forwarded to us so that we can make a display in the school foyer.
I will continue to inform you about the progress of the new school via the School Website and Newsletters and hope that when I see you all at the Parent’s Evening on Thursday 18th October, I will present you with an update showing the development of the building.
I apologise again for any inconvenience and the fact that I have had to now relay this news to you. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
